SUNA SPOTLIGHT: Jane Frahm
***************
Jane Frahm is a firm believer in multidisciplinary approaches
to common problems.
It’s that belief that has
led her to be a very respected physical therapist at the Detroit Medical
Center’s Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. Specially trained in pelvic
floor dysfunction, Jane sees patients with incontinence (both urinary and
fecal), pelvic pain, vaginismus and voiding dysfunction.
“I have always fostered
interaction with my nurse colleagues,” says Jane. “Through the years of my
involvement as a pelvic floor rehabilitation PT, I have met many nurses, nurse
practitioners and clinical nurse specialists through SUNA and the National
Association for Continence (NAFC), where I serve as a board member.”
A member of SUNA since 2008,
Jane said joining the organization was an easy decision.
“I have been aware of SUNA
through many of my nurse colleagues and fellow pelvic floor physical therapists
who are also members and who have also presented at SUNA conferences and attend
local SUNA chapter meetings,” explains Jane. “I have learned about medical
managements of urological conditions and made many acquaintances in the
urological nursing fields. I find SUNA meetings well-organized, well-run
and very informative.”
A graduate of Simmons College in Boston with a degree in Physical Therapy and a
BS, Jane currently lives in Grosse Pointe, Mich. Sadly, Jane is recently
widowed, but keeps busy with family. She has three adult sons, two grandsons
and another grandchild on the way.
“I stay active at work and
at home,” says Jane. “I love to be outdoors and will never get my house really
clean.”
